Born in 1961 in Russia, Igor is the son of painter Alexej Novikov. A graduate from the Moscow Academy of Fine Arts, he is an independent artist since 1987. From 1991 to 1993, he was granted a UNESCO fellowship, which enabled him to work in a La Chaux-de-Fonds studio. He has had exhibits in numerous countries, and on a regular basis in Switzerland since 1990. His works are part of important collections, both public and private. Igor lives and works in Uetendorf, near Thune, but returns every year to Moscow and works in his studio there.
Igor has been forever asking himself fundamental questions that are existential, philosophical, and metaphysical:
Where is man coming from?
What is mans mission on earth?
Where is man going?
