Arman (Armand Pierre Fernandez), born in 1928 in Nice, signed the New Realism Manifesto along with Martial Raysse and Yves Klein, among other artists.
At the very end of the 1950s, Arman gave up abstract painting, and shifted his questioning to the object, as a unique, returning and obsessive focus of his creative quest.
He had over 500 solo exhibits, including 77 in museums. His works are displayed in the most famous museums all over the world.
